About Ruby Ibarra
Ruby Ibarra was born in 1991 in the Philippines, where she spent the first years of her life before relocating with her family to California. Growing up in the Bay Area in the 1990s, she was exposed to hip hop and rap almost everywhere, especially Wu Tang Clan, Eminem, and Tupac. She began experimenting with her own songwriting during her teenage years as she developed the style upon which she would build her career. She also picked up music production skills and began touring and playing local shows. In 2010, she began releasing music videos on YouTube, and in 2012 she released her first mixtape. Her debut album, CIRCA91, came out in 2017 on Beatrock Music. She performs with her band, the Balikbayans, and she raps in both English and Filipino dialects, including Tagalog and Waray.
