About Ibeyi

Ibeyi is a duo made up of French-Cuban twin sisters Lisa-Kiandé Díaz and Naomi Díaz. They were born in 1994 and grew up in Paris but frequently visited London and Havana. Their father was percussionist Angá Díaz, of the Buena Vista Social Club, and their Venezuelan mother introduced them to Yoruba, a dialect, musical style, and religion originating in Nigeria and Benin. Their music draws on hip-hop, electronic music, and Yoruba. They released their first single, River, in 2014, followed by their self-titled debut album in 2015. In 2016, they appeared alongside Beyoncé in her project Lemonade. That got the attention of a mainstream audience and helped immensely to grow their popularity.  Shortly after, they opened a Chanel fashion show in Havana. Since then, they have continued to tour internationally. Their most recent album, called Ash, was released in 2017.
